Crete Holidays: Ferries in Crete – Giving Access to Crete

For all Crete holidays you will need to get to the island with ease. There are all sorts of ferries in Crete that can be used to help you get to Crete from all sorts of different parts of the world. Most of these ferries are based in the Athens area. With these ferries traveling to Crete is easy.

One of the most important areas where you can find all sorts of ferries in Crete is at the port of Heraklion. This is located in the Crete capitol of Heraklion, which is in the central area of Crete. All sorts of destinations are covered through this port, including areas of mainland Greece and Turkey. Some parts of nearby Egypt are also covered.

In Heraklion there are three ferries every week to Thessaloniki, which is in the Macedonia area of Greece. There is also a weekly ferry that goes from this port to Rhodes and Agios Nikolaos. Since these are domestic ferries these ferries will not take as long for travel as that of the international ones mentioned earlier.

In Souda there is the port of Chania. This port is in the northwestern area of Crete. Most of the ferries covered here are in the Athens area. Many different ferries that cover the Mediterranean Sea, which is right next door to the area, are also available. These ferries do have all sorts of dining and rest options, as ferry trips through the sea can take a while in some cases.

Chania has some daily ferries from the area to Piraeus, the main port in Athens. These trips take about nine hours, and dining and beds are available on ferries from Anek Lines. In fact, in most cases you can easily find a ferry that goes during the evening, which is especially convenient for Crete holidays in that you will not be losing any time on the ferry.

Throughout the year regardless of which of these ports you take you will be able to get some quick ferries throughout the area, which makes traveling to Crete easy. You can easily get connected from Piraeus to Crete in about five hours in the summer months. This is because of the lack of rain that occurs during this time of the year. Also, these ferries will generally go during the evening hours.

When traveling to Crete you should consider one of these ferries in Crete. You will be able to get easy access to Crete and will be able to travel there during the evening. Also, you can get some dining and rest services in some of these ferries. Ferries are great options to consider for Crete holidays.
